Shadow
Mountain Escape (SME) is three Timber Frame Structures located in a beautiful
"niche" of the Blue Ridge Mountains (Shenandoah Valley) known
as "Jewell Hollow". The primary timber frame structure is a unique
duplex lodge (Bear Dance Lodge) cleverly designed with no walls shared between
the two independent dwellings. The lodge has an observation tower, which
provides a striking view of the ridge line (Skyline drive) and surrounding
forest for guests to enjoy. |

SME
currently offers three cabins for rental - two in the lodge timber frame structure
and our another in our stand-alone "Butterfly loft". The two cabins
in the main structure are named "Bumble Bee" and "Dragon Fly".
Either of these can sleep 6 guests comfortably. They are two story cabins, each
with their own full bath, kitchen, fireplace or open face wood stove, deck,
and easy access to the outlook tower. |

15 acres border the Shenandoah National Park and large wooded privately owned
tracts. This ensures an abundance of wild life and countless varieties of native
Virginia plant species. SME provides its guests with a completely unique environment
defined by the natural beauty of the Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge Mountains.
The simple and ageless quality of the Timber Frame constructed cabins, with
their massive exposed oak beams, offer a warm and charming environment for guests
- often invoking the sense of traveling back in time a few hundred years. The
property includes a large stream, nature trail, small pond; natural springs
and is semi-heavily wooded. |
