- Our accommodations offer a clean climate controlled timber frame cabin with comfortable beds, full kitchen, satellite television, DVD, and modern amenities for comfortable living.
- Full kitchen (less a dishwasher) equipped with stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, utensils, glassware and a full set of pots and pans
- Coffee, cream and sugar provided.
- Cabin rentals do not include housekeeping services.
- Bed linens and towels provided for no additional fee.
- We are an energy efficient “Virginia Green” business with an on-site recycling center for our guests to utilize.

- Real fireplace and wood-stove fires with basic stock of wood provided during cold season (Bumble Bee , Dragon Fly and Ladybug Cabins)
- We provide an atmosphere welcoming to all European and foreign guests.
- We also provide our guests with personalized service and trip planning assistance if requested.
The Butterfly Loft sits at the top level of SME’s “salt box” barn structure. With its tasteful antiques, seclusion, and “old world” charm, it is a favorite with our many romantic getaway couples. Rate: $185 - $210 per night-

Bumble Bee Cabin
The Bumble Bee is located within the Bear Dance Lodge with access to the observation tower and La Cantina. It is a favorite for couples who enjoy the atmosphere of the romantic regions of the German or Austrian Alps. Rate: $185 - $210 per night-

Lady Bug Cabin
Our newest Cabin is the Lady Bug. The Ladybug is a stand-alone timber frame structure located directly across the sun deck from the owners’ timber frame home. The Ladybug Cabin is rented to couples by special request only. Rate: $165 per night-

The Tower
The Bear Dance Lodge has an observation tower, which provides a striking view of the ridge line (Skyline Drive) and surrounding forest for guests to enjoy. It makes a great place to getaway, relax and take in the peaceful and beautiful views.
La Cantina
Our private “La Cantina” was inspired by our many visits to Europe. This special room is available to our “VIP” guests and adult functions upon request. It offers guests a unique private space where they can gather and socialize without the space limitations of the private cabins.
Our Policies
- Minimum Stay: There is a 2 night minimum stay requirement for weekends, holidays and fall foliage season for all cabins.
- Check In Time: 3:00 PM, or earlier if only by prior arrangement with us.
- Check-out: 11:00 A.M, or later if only by prior arrangement with us.
- Deposit: All security deposits and reservations will only be held with a valid credit card number.
- Bed Linens/Towels: Provided for no additional fee.
- Cabin Occupancy: Maximum adult occupancy for Cabins: (2) Bumble Bee, (2) Butterfly, (2) Ladybug , (4) Dragon Fly
- Pets: We do not accept pets in our cabins. If desired, we can provide you with contact information for a nearby boarding kennel to care for your pets during your stay with us.
- Smoking: There is no smoking permitted inside our cabins.
Cancellations:
- Holidays and Fall foliage season cancellations received less than 14 days from arrival will be charged the entire reservation price unless we can rebook.
- We will not attempt to rebook your cabin should you cancel your reservation on the day of your arrival.
- No shows, that is not notifying us at all, will be charged the entire reservation price.
- If a reservation is cut short you will be charged 50% per day for each remaining day of your reservation, excluding Holidays and Fall Season where you will be charged the entire amount of your reserved stay.
- All cancellations must be received by phone.
